 AS2 test overview

Drummond Group Inc. (DGI) tests AS2 products-with-version for interoperability with other AS2 products-with-version in a specified interoperability test round. AS2 Interoperability tests are currently run twice a year in March and September. Participation in the testing is voluntary.

Implementation of InSitu®, patented technology developed by DGI for automated interoperability testing among participants, is REQUIRED for all AS2 Interoperability test rounds. AS2 Interoperability testing has a large number of participants and the demand for automation is high with participating vendors and therefore mandatory by Drummond Group to save manpower, support automated testing across time zones and to reduce overall test time.

AS2 Optional Test Profiles -Optional Test Profiles are value added functionality built upon an existing technical standard. Various industries have additional requirements which they want added to the AS2 standard and therefore to the AS2 Interoperability Test. For more info.

Software companies who wish to enter a product-with-version in an AS2 Interoperability test fall into one of three categories in terms of eligibility and requirements:

  1. Products that have never been tested by DGI. Products that have never been tested undergo testing in the following order: (1) AS2 In-the-Queue Self-Paced NEW (2) InSitu® Development; followed by (2) AS2 Interoperability Testing.

  2. Products-with-version that have successfully completed AS Interoperability Testing in the past but have not participated in the most recent round undergo testing in the following order: (1) AS2 In-the-Queue Self-Paced CONTINUE followed by (2) AS2 Interoperability Testing. (note: must be InSitu® enabled)

  3. Product-with-versions that were deemed AS2 Interoperable in the most recent round of testing. Products-with-version which passed the most recent AS2 Interoperability test round may join the succeeding AS2 Interoperability round assuming that there were no major code upgrades implemented between tests.

SUMMARY OF AS2 TESTING CATEGORIES

AS2 In the Queue Self-Paced NEW (AS2 ITQ SP NEW)

AS2 In-the-Queue Self-Paced NEW is for software products which are either: a) new to DGI testing; or b) for products which have implemented major code changes and require extensive time to debug and prepare for the AS2 Interop test round.

AS2 ITQ Self-Paced NEW includes a test plan with required milestones, and access to testing against two products in the DGI test lab that have been "Drummond Certified" and successfully passed the most recent round of testing. The participant is expected to resolve conformance issues on his/her own. The only technical support provided by DGI is connectivity to the hosted products. Any other technical support requests would require purchase of a minimum of five hours of DGI Tech Support. DGI response time to support requests would be within two business days.

Products which complete AS2 In-the-Queue NEW will be conformant, but are not yet known to be interoperable. Completing only the AS2 In-the-Queue NEW phase will not designate your product-with-version as "Interoperable", but your company will be listed as "In-the-Queue for Interop Testing" on the DGI website. This will allow your potential customers to confirm that your product has completed the pre-requisite test and is "In-the-Queue for Interop Testing" for the upcoming Interoperability Test round.

  • Which Products should participate in AS2 ITQ SP NEW?
    1. Products new to DGI testing.
    2. Software products-with-version that have implemented major code changes and which need 3 to 4 months time to debug in preparation for the AS2 Interop.
  • How long does AS2 ITQ Self-Paced NEW take?

For products NEW to DGI testing, it takes approximately three to four months.

AS2 In-the-Queue Self-Paced CONTINUE (AS2 ITQ SP CONTINUE)

AS2 In-the-Queue Self-Paced CONTINUE is for software products which either: a) have passed AS Interoperability Testing in the past but have skipped the most recent AS2 test round; or b) for products which have code changes and need some time to debug in preparation for the AS2 Interop test round.

AS2 ITQ Self-Paced CONTINUE includes a test plan with required milestones, and access to testing against two products in the DGI test lab that have been "Drummond Certified" and which successfully passed the most recent round of testing. The participant is expected to resolve conformance issues on his/her own. The only technical support provided by DGI is connectivity to the hosted products. Any other technical support requests would require purchase of a minimum of five hours of DGI Tech Support. DGI response time to support requests would be within two business days.

Products that complete AS2 ITQ Self-Paced successfully will be conformant, but not yet known to be interoperable. Completing only the AS2 ITQ Self-Paced will not designate your product as "Interoperable", but your company will be listed as "In the Queue AS2 Interop" on the DGI website to allow your potential customers to confirm that your product has completed the pre-requisite de-bugging and is "In the Queue for Interop Testing" for the upcoming Interoperability Test round.

  • Which Products should participate in AS2 ITQ SP CONTINUE?
    1. Products which have passed the AS Interoperability Testing in the past but have skipped the most recent AS2 test round.
    2. Software products-with-version that have implemented code changes and which need time 6-8 weeks to debug in preparation for the AS2 Interop.
  • How long does AS2 ITQ Self-Paced CONTINUE take?
    Approximately 6 - 8 weeks.

AS2 TESTING

Every AS2 product-with-version participating in the AS2 Interoperability Test round will send and receive messages from every other participant to test for interoperability.
  • Which software products should participate?
All AS2 Software products must undergo the AS2 Interoperability Testing to be designated as "AS2 Interoperable." To be eligible, products either have to successfully completed AS2 ITQ SP NEW or AS2 ITQ SP CONTINUE, or have passed the most recent round of AS2 Interoperability Testing.
  • How long does AS2 Interoperability Testing last?
    Approximately 10 weeks
  • When are the AS2 Interoperability Tests scheduled?
There will be AS2 Interoperability Tests held every six months in March and September.
