 Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN)

The Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) is a network of interoperable data pools and a global registry called the GS1 Global Registry, for communicating master data (Catalogue Item and Party) between trading partners. A data pool is a centralized data base, where all necessary information to perform business transactions between trading partners, is stored. The GDSN, conceived and supported by EAN International, the Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC), and leading retailers, manufacturers and industry groups, is a global, Internet-based initiative that will enable trading partners to quickly and efficiently exchange supply chain data that is accurate, up-to-date and compliant with universally supported EAN.UCC System standards.

On July 7, 2004, the GDSN Oversight Committee selected Drummond Group Inc. as the exclusive GDSN data pool certification company. Interoperability certification is critical to the success of GDSN and each test round will utilize DGI's Interoperability Compliance Process®, a robust interoperability process methodology which enables vendors to thoroughly test their products against other participating vendors. Upon completion of each GDSN test, a copy of a Final Report along with the test results will be published and posted on the GDSN website.

All Data Pools within GDSN are required to undergo GDSN Interoperability testing.
