 Learn more about Drummond Group

"While testing software products for interoperability is a highly technical endeavor, it has no business value for your supply chain unless a sufficient number of software companies participate to provide a selection of implementation ready products at appropriate price points. Getting a critical mass of software vendors to participate in developing implementation ready software is what's critical for a successful certification program."

2. Certifying under your brand

DGI can facilitate testing services under your association-branded certification programs or through its own Drummond Certified™ program.

Your Brand:

If your organization has already established its own certification program and/or wishes to have the certification testing branded as your own, Drummond Group Inc. can provide test plan development, testing methodology and test administration services. Under the aegis of your own branding, DGI can facilitate discussions between your technical working group and software companies to define appropriate testing parameters which meet both end user needs and which are practical from a software testing perspective. DGI can develop the test plan and provide the appropriate methodology whether it be for a software audit, conformance testing or interoperability testing. DGI has provided or is currently providing test administration services for GDSN ,Liberty Alliance, RosettaNet, GS1 and UCCnet which have their own branded certification programs.

Drummond Certified™ Program: If your organization has testing needs but does not want to run its own branded certification program, testing under the Drummond Certifiedª Program may be an option. Drummond Certifiedª provides a full service array of services from facilitating technical discussions between end users and software companies, test plan development, testing methodology expertise, test administration, marketing of the certification program, Drummond Certifiedª seal, and strategic marketing to drive adoption of standards tested software products.

For example, the Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA) approached DGI to develop a CSOS Software Audit to fulfill the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)'s requirement for a third party to certify software products-with-version for compliance with DEA rules exchanging e222 forms digitally. DGI worked with HDMA technical working group, facilitated discussions with software vendors, HDMA and the DEA to develop the test plan, and became the first testing company to create a CSOS Software Audit Certification in compliance with DEA regulations. 3. Developing industry specific test profiles

Industry Test Profiles are value added functionality built upon an existing technical standard. Various industries may have additional requirements which they want added to an existing technical standard. Thus software companies serving a particular industry can opt to participate in an "Industry Test Profile" to ensure interoperability with other software vendors supporting the added functionality.

Industry groups and associations who are interested in having DGI test and develop an Industry Test Profile should provide DGI with the functionality parameters which they would like tested. DGI can also provide consulting services to the industry group if it needs help in writing the technical requirements and facilitating communication with the software vendor community.

Industry test profiles are usually optional tests which take place in conjunction with an interoperability test of the respective standard. For example, in AS2 Interoperability there are many different Optional Test Cases (Multiple Attachments, Certificate Exchange Messaging, etc) which were developed as a result of requests from industry end users.

For a list of AS2 Optional Tests Ð see http://www.drummondgroup.com/html-v2/standards.html .

4. Test automation tools

Interoperability testing as well as conformance testing may require the use of test tools and test automation tools depending on the number of software vendors involved in the testing and the complexity of the test. DGI has experience developing its own patented testing automation tools as well as operating existing test tools.

For tests such as AS2 which involve 25-30 software products per round which results in some 40,000 test cases or more per test, DGI has developed a patented testing automation tool called InSitu™. InSitu™ is an innovative technology developed for conducting automated interoperability testing to reduce the manual effort required for testing and to make it easier for companies across different time zones to complete interoperability testing in less time than ever before.

5. Software Audit programs

In addition to interoperability and conformance testing, DGI can also work with your organization to develop software audits to ensure compliance with a technical standard.

The Drummond Certified™ Program for CSOS Audits also developed unique testing guidelines tailored for CSOS, a certification seal, and testing and re-testing policy guidelines in compliance with DEA regulations.

6. Consulting Practice

The Drummond Group consulting practice focuses on assisting industry associations and large users who want to build interoperable systems within their supply chains. Today's fast paced global economy requires more rapid exchange of business data. Having interoperable systems is important for companies to maintain competitiveness because the ability to digitally exchange information with their business partners is critical to their success. Yet, the software to share information is typically built in silos and not geared towards interoperable systems.

Drummond Group's expertise is bridging together technology, business and cultural processes to develop an ebusiness strategy which is practical and implementable. By focusing on this critical juncture, we can provide your industry with a successful strategy for eBusiness growth.
