Drummond Certified™ EPCS & CSOS Certification Marks Usage

Certificate of Compliance Details
Drummond Group, LLC (Drummond) will issue an official document of Certificate of Compliance for each product that successfully completes Drummond’s certification or recertification process and meets the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) requirements for for Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances (EPCS) or Controlled Substance Ordering System (CSOS) compliance. Drummond’s certification process has been approved by the DEA.
Certificate of Compliance
The Certificate of compliance will clearly state the following:
- What is being certified: Electronic Prescription Applications and/or Pharmacy Applications
- By whom it was certified: Drummond Group, LLC as a DEA-Approved Certifying Organization.
- Who is requiring the certification: The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) mandates that electronic prescription and pharmacy applications undergo evaluation to ensure compliance with EPCS regulations such as the 21 Code of Federal Regulations 1311 regulation.
- Scope of the Certification:
- Security Controls
- Identity Proofing Compliance
- Prescriber Authentication
- Digital Prescription Signature
- Logging Process
- Record Retention
- Regular Compliance Updates
- Testing and Validation
- Effective Date of Certification – The certification’s effective date is indicated by the year on the badge, representing the year the certification was completed. This certification will remain valid for two (2) years from that date.
Certification Rules
- EPCS certifications are typically valid for two years from the date of issuance. Organizations must ensure timely renewal before expiration to maintain compliance. The Certificate of Compliance must be used in its entirety.
- Certified entities must continuously comply with DEA regulations, including maintaining security measures like two-factor authentication, digital signatures, and comprehensive audit trails.
- Any significant updates or changes to the EPCS system may require re-certification to ensure continued compliance with DEA standards.
- Organizations must retain electronic prescription records and related logs for a minimum period as specified by DEA regulations, typically two years, to facilitate audits and investigations.
- Entities should be prepared for periodic audits by the DEA or authorized third parties to verify ongoing compliance with EPCS requirements.
Drummond Registered Mark Usage
The Drummond Certified™ EPCS and CSOS certification seals signifies that the certified application complies with the security and functionality standards outlined in 21 CFR Part 1311, ensuring the system’s capability to securely handle electronic prescriptions for controlled substances. The Drummond Group Logo and Drummond Certified Seals are registered marks of Drummond Group, LLC and are used by organizations to display and prove their compliance or certified status

Users of the Drummond Logo must abide by Drummond’s Brand Guidelines.
Drummond Certified Seals
All organizations that successfully complete a Drummond EPCS (Integration, Pharmacy, or Prescriber) or CSOS certification process and meet DEA requirements will receive a digital copy of the badge, that will include the year their certification or recertification process was complete for use on their website and marketing materials.

Drummond logo and the Drummond Certified™ seals are registered marks of Drummond Group, LLC.
The Drummond logo is provided to certified electronic prescribing systems that have successfully met the stringent requirements set forth by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS).Use of the Drummond Certified™ EPCS seal is restricted to the electronic prescribing systems-name, [and product-with-version] that received specific EPCS certification for a specific test on a specific year.
If you choose to post the Drummond Certified™ seal on your website’s home page, other internal pages, press releases, or marketing materials, the Drummond Certified™ seal must be hyperlinked to the specific certified product’s internal page.
Companies agree to display the Drummond Certified™ seal without alteration, modification, or misrepresentation in any way, shape, or form.
Companies agree to use the Drummond Certified™ seal only in an authorized manner or approved format, according to these guidelines.
Drummond reserves the right to approve or disapprove the use of the seal or logo on a company’s website or marketing materials (size, surrounding text, etc.) to ensure that it complies with these policies. Drummond has the right to rescind the seal or logo usage at any time.
Use only the mark provided by Drummond for print or electronic media.
A safe and empty area of 0.5” must be maintained around the mark.
The seal must be labeled with the specific year which applies to the criteria tested.
Actions for Incorrect References or Incorrect Usage of the Certificates, Seals or Marks
If Drummond discovers incorrect use of the Certificate of Compliance and/or the Drummond Registered Marks (Drummond Certified™ seal or logo), these infractions shall be dealt with as follows:
- The action chosen will depend upon several factors such as: the laws of the country in which the misuse occurs; the seriousness of the misuse, whether the misuse was inadvertent or deliberate and whether the use intent was to confuse or mislead the market.
- Drummond will require a misuser to take corrective action whenever a Drummond Registered mark has been affixed to a product:
- that is not authorized to bear the mark because there is no record of the product’s certification, or it does not comply with the certification requirements,
- where the mark is unauthorized (e.g., a counterfeit mark),
- where the mark is being displayed in violation of any existing agreement,
- where there are incorrect references to the Drummond Certified program or misleading use of certificates or marks are found in advertisements or catalogs,
- where Drummond incorrectly claims product certification and issues certificate and/or marks, the Certification Body may require to subsequently issue a withdrawal of all marks or certificates.
- Drummond may take corrective actions, which include but are not limited to:
- notification and recommendation for re-test,
- removal of Certificate or mark.
- request re-test and certification of the product so that it complies with certification requirements.
- issue public notices concerning product hazard or of transgression.
- take necessary and appropriate legal action.
Drummond reserves the right, at any time and without cause, to modify or suspend these policies and withdraw any permission granted to a company to use the certificate or mark. Drummond also reserves the right to act against any misuse or unfair, false claims, misleading, diluting, or infringing use of Drummond’s mark or certificates.
